This year, I join the same as last year which is 21KM Half Marathon with my loves one and friends. Different from last year where I still have jogging approximate 4 days per week before the D-day, this year have not been thru any training preparation at all. Lucky that I’m able to finish it barely in time, hahaha.

My result shows:

9KM Check Point: 1:24:35.30

Chip Time: 3:30:59.42

Gun Time: 3:32:45.56

Don’t know why is the Gun Time included? But personally more prefer the result as in Excel sheet last year.

Can see that I’m walking even more compared to running, hahah. Due to wearing old rough socks that causing 5 -6 blisters over both feet. My result was obviously not so good compared to last year. Well, training is a must for marathon!! Next year must get train for it XD

However, this year the PBIM is not well organised, lots of cons than pros during the run. For example, running out of water supply, not allow taking new water bottle, not much markers along the route, not enough finishing T for Full marathoners, all the same colors for run categories, all the same colors and design for the running vest, etc.  Mostly all these affecting Full and Half marathoners. Next year will be joining again, and hell yea PBIM 2012 you better improve!!

This year I’ve joined the Penang Bridge International Marathon for Half Marathon category.

First time to run for 21KM, but i’m actually walked alot instead of running, hahah XD After running for about 3KM, I’ve actually start slow down and walked already. With my ankle that previously injured, still able to complete the run with run-walk-walk-walk-run-walk-walk-walk.. XD hahha.. lucky the painful ankle didn’t let me sit in an ambulance, bwahahha..

What is fun is that, this year half and full marathon runners had suffered the heavy downpour at 4am time, where I’m on way back at middle of the bridge. With the heavy rain, me actually having fun running and walking, hahah.. even until my eye can’t open, cloth sticks gao gao on body, heavy flooded shoes, and really really painful ankle and feet. but the experience is really awesome!! =D Just that the phone that i carry along have gone case.. wet gao gao XD hahah

After 3 hours + of time, I’ve reached the finish line with really sore ankle XD hahah

Last year firstly joined the 2009 DIY camp in Penang, where get to know from Ah Sing (Tracy).. This year, being encourage by Chris (2009 Camp Leader), and I’ve decide to help and organise 2010 Penang DIY camp =D

Initially was thought Penang only will have one camp like last year, but after register then only found out that there are actually more camp will be happening in Penang. Which is good, because World Vision will be able to raise more fund for the needed =)

Actually there are worries around, hahah. I’m just a normal little human afterall =P.. But lucky is that there are a group of great people behind pushing and helping together. It is really a great team to made this camp a happening one =)

Initially, there was alots people wanted to helps, but days by days, only left not much.. hahah XD pity those who still left.. cos it’s actually less 10 people in organising this camp.. tough, really tough.. Am salute for the volunteering spirits that have in all of us XD hahha

Hall of Fame

Firstly, have to thanks ah Sing aka Tracy for great in the initial preparation work, but unfortunate she have to go to Singapore for work..But she is ready to come back and help whenever possible! hahah, Salute! and some more, come from Singapore to Kl for countdown alone, fui~~

Next is Ann Ling, she have give good suggestion always, and only with her help then we can have a nice venue at Chew Jetty, haha. Plus, some more the venue is free for us to use. Really a great gift to us. Also, Ann Ling is one of those who helps from head to toes, during the camp planning and during the camp, even after the camp =)  And she have helping alot for Community service programme planning, also the Famine Challenge with Yk and See Ying.

Then, is Christopher aka PK, who have helped alot in getting sponsorship for beverage and T-shirt.. He have given great help from time to time, even need to taking care of his little boy and family but still committed to the event planning, a good salute to him! haha. He also create great jokes and fun for all of us XD bwahhaha

And YK, which is now known as wise guy among us =P, is also the one kena teruk, helping from head to toes for this camp XD hahhah. Due to unfortunate for most people can’t make time or can’t help, I have assigned alot of thing to him actually.. Initially was told him that he only take care for account thingy, but after that, he is to be in-charge for programme running pula, bwahah. A big shift =P  And then here come the Treasure Hunt and Famine Challenge for day 2. But, truly, he is good in those part, he have ideas for to programme flow nice XD hahha

Where Fishy, she is the easy going and happy fruit among us and making laughter always XD wakakak. She is out of nowhere get informed by me that going to be MC then after that become Famine Challege day 1 programmer planner. Get torture by me gao gao, hahha XD She truly a committed person to get the things done, and she only sleep for 1-2 hours before the camp to make sure every things goes well on tomorrow. Salute this warrior!  Yup, she also good in giving out any doubts and ideas when discussion, haha

See Ying, another great hand for all of us, a pretty, patient and quiet girl that will quietly helping us whenever needed. She is also the one helping from head to toes, never get any complaints sounded, hahah

and… Cindy, she have requested to be the photographer during the camp, so she have her wish granted. Due to she need to concentrate on her study thing, so not often come to help during the planning. But lucky her photographing for us is great during the camp, else I gonna bite her gao gao… XD hahha

Edmund, who can’t make it to the camp but have provide great helps us for planning.. he is kena drag by me during badminton session one, so pity XD hahaha. And also really thanks for helping me taking care few camper’s booklet =D

where Jackie is also the ex-camp committee that have continue to help in this year camp. He have required to travel outstation to work often and can’t really meet us often. But he is ready to help whenever ready, hahah. And even during the camp, he also drag his weak body to come support us, especially when the community service part, hahha XD

Joe, a new camper joined this year, where first meet him with Jeff and Keith during the Sponsor a Child boot in Queensbay. And from his request to help, he also become the committee to helping us to do the needed during the planning =D hahha. He have helped taking nice photo and video during the camp as well =P heheh

Peter, who was initially assigned him as another MC during the camp one, but due to emergency for his personal stuff, he can’t make it and I try to help to replace him and talk crap, hahha. He also from time to time giving a helping hand to all of us =D  and he is indeed finding a girlfriend, anyone interested? hahha

Grace/Suteng/Irene, they are from the Youth Malaysian Movement, that have great energy and guiding us for dancing and fun part during the camp XD hahha. Don’t be fooled by their outlook, they do, can dance well! =D hahaha

Chin Chuan aka CCC, an active and cheerful girl, who is initially registered as camper and then due to she need transport and get fetch by Cindy.. Then end up she also become our great hand during the camp XD hahah..

and Ann Ling’s friend, Hui Ming, have get recommended to come as a helping volunteer with us. Sweet and quiet girl, that helping us alot =D hahah. Even this time comes abit late to help, but also have reduce some burden to us, haha

Jeff/Keith, they are volunteers from another camps in Perak, and same as Joe, where knowing them from the QB Child Sponsorship booth as well. They are giving help to find some campers and give helps from time to time. But seriously, Jeff is a very friendly guy, and I’d get annoyed by his over-friendly behaviour =P

Before Camp

I..Discuss+Planning

During the preparation, we have often come out meet each others for task assign, programme planning, run up, test run, cleaning, etc etc.. And we also going here and there to have great food makan and chit chat discussion for the camp. For example, like in Edelswiss Cafe.

II..Site Cleaning

One week before the camp, we have then go to the venue to do more preparation, slide test run, and cleaning for the community hall, so that campers can get a nice place to rest =) See, how good all committees are XD hahah

III..Flag Making

And due to me kiam siap =P want save cost, many things have been DIY rather than pay and get the things done. For example, the flag..

Regarding the flag.. Actually very sorry to those in helping one.. Cause out of sudden, my little brain thought of making a special flag to tie around road side to let campers know the place when they come.. and, hahah XD Fishy, Annling and Yk are those unfortunate to get me dragged on the eve of Chinese Lunar July to get the flag done, hahah XD You guys rocks! X)

IV..Tag Making

and, worst some more is the committee’s name tag, I have request them to DIY as well, bwahahha XD save cost ma, some more can be creative also =P  So on the camp’s eve,  few of us have come to stay overnight to do all the preparation, kesian.. bwahahha.. The we also go have a nice food at Old Green House midnight before go to rest and welcome the next day XD hahha

During Camp

Day 1 [14.August.2010]

I..Registration

On Day-1, we were first went to nearby kopitiam to have the last meal before the famine start. And it is the last moment I taste on my lover Kopi Oo Gao before the 30-Hours split T.T…. Then we back and prepare for the registration, campers have coming slowly. The turn up rate was 2/3, which is good already, hahha.

II..Ice Breaking

Of all the events, ice breaking is the first kick start programme, and this have helped by Suteng + Irene. All the campers are then first playing some game and then group into animal categories, bwahaha

III..Famine Challenge

The first Famine Challenge was lead by Fishy. It is mainly to help campers to understand about discrimination in life, and also about the story of Srey Mom. And also given awareness regarding AIDS and prostitution.

IV..Movie Sharing

Here got one movie sharing section which I inserted to let the campers have a rest. The movie screened is regarding the mis-fortune of brother and sister, where they are having difficult life during World War II. The movie name is “Grave of the Fireflies (1988)“

V..Treasure Hunt

Next is the the Treasure Hunt game!! hahah. This section is well planned by Yk. It have let the campers to walk in and out and in and out in Chew Jetty, hahah. Campers have now get to know more inside about Chew Jetty =)

VI..Welcoming the Night

After a long day, the night have finally come.. Here, campers have given a drink of soya for those have not able to hold hungers. And also, during the evening, campers are given joys for dancing and getting know each other more.. hahha XD

Day 2 [15.August.2010]

I..Morning Exercise

We start Day-2 with a freshing morning exercise above the sea =D yes, it is above the sea! Cause there have one platform built extended from the land. And lucky it able to sustain all of us jumping around, hahah

II..Community Service

The community service section is a special one to let campers experience the poverty life that the children might get not enough eat in the morning but still need to go to work badly. I am bad to allow this programme goes in XD bwahhaha.. as this one really drained alot of committees’ and campers’ energy.

Campers get to walk around and collect the recycle items, that will be then sold and get more money for the camp. After all of our hard work, we have successful get RM 154.00 additional money from here =D hahha. Great Job everyone!!

III..Movie Sharing

Another movie sharing section I inserted after the tiring activity.. Was intend to let campers to rest actually, hahha. But some are get to watch it from beginning till the end. This time, I have choose the movie regarding the un-told story from a Diamond trading that involved child soldiers circulation in Africa. The movie is actually famous, but surprisingly, not much campers watch it before. The movie name is “Blood Diamond (2006)“

IV..Famine Challenge

The second Famine Challenge that lead by YK, Ann Ling and See Ying. It was to bring awareness for campers regarding the hard-full living of streetchild and how the mis-fortune can comes anytime to the streetchild. After the game and do some sharing, I have played one video regarding the Mongolian street child which is given by WV.. After the sharing I’d notice some watery eyes among campers.. Gosh, please hold back the tears >.<!!

V..Break-Fast!!

And Finally!! the long wait 30-Hour have reached!!! hahaha XD

Every one were joy and then give them sing the Famine theme song, Tomorrow. =)   And some sing until cry? =P   After singing, all were provided with Hi5 sponsored bread and also sponsored tasty bao, which is sponsored by my working colleagues.

The 2 days Famine camp have now comes to an end.. So fast!!! Committees were all very very very tired.. After the camp is the moment to snap photos around, hahah. And we have then went to nearby kopitiam to enjoy the great food! hahhaa

After Camp

Countdown at Bukit Jalil [22.August.2010]

After one week, and here comes the official one!!  Even it only have the total of 4 of us (little marccus, ah sing, grace, and lay leng) to able to reach Bukit Jalil for countdown event, but it is also fun. We syok sendiri gao gao XD hahah. To be honest, the 4 that goes down to countdown is really siao one, hahha. Yup, we have fun there, and next year should ask more people come to scream here and there =P

This time in helping to organise one camp is really a good experience for me =)  Have really get to learn alot, just can’t get to play during the camp T.T…..

And together with the cost saving, the camp fee was able to provide additional RM 500+ to the camp donation. Plus also great donation from Yee Kai, and some from Chwin Liang.. So, all the total donation was actually over RM 13k ^^

I am really very the many Happy about this, bwahhaha..

Again, I am really really very the sipek many thanks to everyone to have helping together and work as a great team in making this camp a success!! And to everyone one in the camp,

It is… Paint Ball War Game!! hahah XD

the event was in planning for few months back with Roger, Dawn, Liew and Sau Hun.

Finally, today have make it a success!! XD kaka

even the field with motor boat and armor truck they still don’t want to release, but all of use get to play 4 of the fields in there. And also get the chance to let Professional team to shot us XD hahaha. Song!~~

The place we are organising for this time PaintBall game is at Taman Pewira, Permatang Tinggi, Penang, at Kelab Kombat.

There was one of the largest paintball gamefield in Malaysia. If you are interested, can reach them at combatkelab.com.

At the morning, we have 10 cars with more than20 peoples despatch from Penang HQ, Suntech.  There are others gather at Auto City to go, and some direct reach the destination.

As you can see.. Many cars. And looks like going for Wedding XD hahah

I was sitting in Yee Kai’s car to help bring them to the War Zone.

However, in the middle of the journey. Mr. Chan’s car found to have air leaking in the rear wheel. So we have a pit stop after crossing Penang Bridge to exchange Tyre.

The process take less than 15 minutes XD hahah. Fast isn’t it?

and we have reach the place at around 9:00am.

The next one gathering at noon, was the lunch with Fishy, Chris,Cindy with..

Timo and Marja!! XD haha. We meet at New World Park to have some lunchy =)

Cindy is healthy now and recover from sickness. So she need some foods =P

Actually Timo and Marja was from Finland, they are student come over to Malaysia for summer vacation and also intern at the same time.

How I get to know them also great faith where first met Marja and Fishy at Bon Odori (Post at here). But that time still do not know them XD haha. They are still a stranger for me.

After joined Famine 30, know well for Chris and Fishy, and know that Marja know them well. So is a coincident to know her! XD haha! And Timo was with Marja all the while XD

Timo and Marja are going back to Finland at next weekend. So this is like a farewell gathering for them.

I do heard Timo is going travel to Hong Kong, Gosh! they really travel alot!! XD

First have to thanks to Ah Sing to let me know Famine 30 was gonna held in Penang, and also thanks to Chris for making this DIY Camp a big success!

At the day of 15 August 2009, little marccus prepared himself with a bowl of famous Tua Lor Ao Lor Mee with Kopi Oo Ice before depart to the 30 hours hunger-ness.

Reached there at about 9:30am, and there was still not much people around in the church. And I spotted this…

And here the below is the building where the Penang Famine 30 DIY Camp that will be running.

And in this small room, which is sponsored by Pastor of Wesley Church Penang, we all the campers will be sleep and have the activities going here.

Here is the registration place. And got two pretty mee-see (nurse) in-charge for the checking of campers’ temperature before they joined for this event. As we all know, the piggy flu was highly the concerned by human recently.

After not long, at about 10am, the event started. And its gonna be a long long 30 hours ahead, with No Bath at all!! >.<

The first activities was grouping of members. It was fun about how they group us! XD haha. All of us where grouped into 4 groups, and choosen a leader, slogan, and group name. =)

After that, as the sun risen and getting hot outdoor, we going back to indoor and continue for ice breaking session.

And little marccus spotted something there.. =X

The ice breaking was the curtain game where two groups guessing each other members. =P

And after that we all having a slide show review on previous famine 30 events which had passed.

The continued activities was SlumStar. Where each group will be given task to survived the disaster, hardy government, and various uncertainty. The Star was folded by team members and we will use it to sold as token to purchase any basic needs for the family (the group). XD wakaka

It is a fun and interesting activity.

All of us got a chance to watch the Slumdog Millionaire!

Where this movie teaches alot of reality. =P

And also, little marccus was not to forgotten the Berak-scene of little Jamal XD kaka. Cause he used to berak in that kind of toilet while he is young =P similar like what little Jamal did.

After the movie screening, actually we are not watch it full caused got minor interruption in the middle, and due to the time schedule, we have to move on for the next activity first.

The coming activity was Refugee game. Its like a station game where we all need to run around, and finish the given task within the rules to earn token. And yes, we are having so much laughter and fun at here!! XD wakaka

After the event, we are all kinda tired already with hunger-ness attacking I believe for most of the campers. But still the activities do not end like this.

We all were then dance and sing and dance gao gao all night long. Given us no chance to think of hunger XD kaka

But actually for those who really can’t tahan (hold on) for the hunger, we still able to get to drink Milo, Cereal, or Soya bean to sustain for the activities.

then at about 10pm more, all of us were so tired and went to sleep~

All of us were sleep together on the floor just like this. And guess what? The temperature was so Cold that night! >.<

And the next morning, we all awakes at about 7am! O.O!! gosh.. all wake up so early dono do what…

Then after brush teeth, little marccus going for a little walk around the church and snap some photos =P hehe

Again, chicken spotted again.

After that we start the game of the days, but before that, we do dance and move alot in the room before went down for the next activity.

The next activity was the Treasure Hunt!

This one…. really make us tired!! but is FUN!! wakakaa XD

We were going around to find peoples, doing tasks, begging for passing.. and really make a lots of Jokes around!! XD hahaha

But afterward, little marccus was fortunate enough to be the winner for this activity. We found the Treasure!! XD kaka (which is a piece of paper, =P hehe)

After that, we went to the room for rest, and have some more review, moving moving around.. and awaiting for the countdown at 4pm.

At around 3:59PM we all having a counting down for break fast!! XD kaka

So happy around for all of us and suddenly 3 of the campers/committee being calling out by Chris. Guess what? It was a Birthday surprise for them! XD kaka

After that, finally we can have our food serving ready. All of us go hamtam around for the Food of course! XD kaka

and also lucky we have cake to eat as well =P

At here, little marccus team also being awarded for winnning the Treasure Hunting game =P

And we have awarded for boxes of yummy Cookies!! XD wakaka

I’m really glad to have joined this event. Even it’s just a mini DIY camp, and not like what will going to happen in Bukit Jalil on 22-23 August 2009, where there will have more people and celebrities fasting together. I am happy to have know everyone there and having lots of lots of Jokes and big Laughter! XD kaka

And there are fee applied which is RM 120 (camper fee also the donation to the poors) + RM 30 (T-shirt and miscellaneous fee). Know from Chris Woo, who is the organiser from Famine 30 Penang that we actually can ask people to donate money for us to join this event. Then I get the donation booklet last week, and guess what?

I have successfully get more than RM 120!! wakaka XD

Total amount I get is RM 153!

Which mean I only need to pay RM 30 for myself. and I get myself waived for the camper fee.

Once we just go in not long, there already got some dance performance started.

You see!  the kids dancing are so cute! XD kaka

Down the stage there are Lots of people watching the performance.

Even there have such super camera gang built up their special town XD kaka

Then out of sudden, spotted one guy with familiar face. He is leng zai David, who is same uni with him, and he also is a Cari member.

And then, we spotted a gang of leng lui!!

But hav’t go snap photo with them, cause we are extremely hungry XD haha

We then go scout out the food to purchase the food ticket first.

Here this one is the Malaysia Japanese Society booth. Nope, they don’t sell tickets. We just passed by.

This one is the one that sell ticket. Guess what? One Booklet tickets sell at RM 20/=  hmm..

And… I met Mr. Chan!!  my boss!! wakaka XD

He is the CEO of Exabytes, in case you don’t know him.

Then I also take with vivian since she also come here. wakaka XD

After we finish bought our food. We going back to the field and find a place to sit down and hamta our food.

and we saw this couple.. nearly spill out our RM 20 of food.. gosh..

Eat half way, I saw Mr Chan again.

He said he going back already, later his baby can’t wait till so late need rest first. And I get a chance to take picture with his family. keke

Then, continue eat eat eat..

The stage continuously have pretty girls and aunty dancing on there. Very nice performance. =)

Even this energetic boy also dance until aura come out. wakaka XD

Watch watch  watch, me and Chun Siang start to find those with Japanese Costume people to take picture. keke =P

The time is near to firework presentation. The stage performance is good and not letting the mood down any moment also. It’s getting higher and higher. XD haha

Very very nice firework show! and it is about 10 minutes long!! omg. XD

After the firework show, before we went back. We still manage to find people to take photos!! wakaka

And now I met Chris! She is the one in-charge for Famine 30 Camps Penang. hehe. She also show me few of the campers at there. So, August, I will be hunger for 30 hours!!

and this is the first time I am went to Sunway Carnival, which I just know there actually have another shopping mall in Butterworth besides Pacific MegaMall. Gosh! >.< how noob am I to be a Penang Boy XD kaka

I am quite like that shopping mall.  As it is not so pack with human and the lightning make marccus feels comfortable.

For Ice Age III – Dawn of the Dinasours

The ice age III, this time I only know the big big elephant married already become a papa. The baby is very cute lar XD kaka, fluffy round tound with small elephant tooth =P Then the squirrel also found his loved one together chasing the nut. Then I was thinking this film become a love story film, XD kaka.

In the movie also got another weasel that maciam rambow one, called Buck. Buck ler, maciam sot jor one. Then his eye ler, kena injured by a super big dinasour that look like a alligator, named Rudy (where is JJ?)…

Overall, the movie quite a funny XD kaka. You can have a good laugh scene in there. But don’t ask me how is it when compared with previous one, cause I really don’t know.

Then before go to watch movie, marccus and ah liang this dua kuku go walk around and eat something first in Sunway Carnival Mall cause we reach there earlier abit.

Today in the Mall got this contest know as Spell-It-Right (S.I.R.). I was hear from somewhere there got this kind of funny contest one, XD kaka. Now today finally can saw it Live at here.

You can see the space is filled with students and parents.

Those student on the stage one and waiting for call one, you can see their Kan Jiong reaction. kaka XD

Two at the right side Kiap Ka Lat Tai. Four at the left hold hand and put on lap. Is this called body language for Kan Jiong-ness?

And here, at down the stage, got Five Judges. The center punya aunty is the one keep talking and give instruction from the start until the end one XD kaka

After awhile watching the students spelling out the word that aunty instructed, we then go to Kopitiam Junction to have some food to eat. And I wanna try the Ice Cream Taost bread there, and guess what?

I am feel like already in Ice Age…

Then we go meet the four girls and went watch movie.

After two hour, we come out to another cafe called Swenz Kopitiam and eat there for some chit chat. hmm, nowadays too much cafe with the same kopitiam style already lar…

After have some chit chat at there. We back to the Mall for some short walking XD

And what I happy with is.. I bought TWO books from Popular!! XD kakak

The Outlier which is smaller version and cost less. And another book that I really need it the most! keke =P

And those who interest, Chris urge that please register with her before 15th July. As she need to place order for the T-Shirt. She mentioned there already not much T-Shift in KL World Vision office. If her team require to print the T-Shirt on their own then it would be too costly. So, faster register with her once you confirm on your own XD

As for the participation fee is RM120 for working adult, you will be given a donation booklet for you to collect donations from your friends & family members. The collected donations will be your participation fee. The minimum collection for working adult is RM120 & there will be another RM20 as well. This RM20 goes to your participation DIY camp miscellaneous fee such as drinking water, soy bean drinks, light snack for breaking fast and rental of hall (if applicable).

And for those who have not heard about Famine 30 before, here I make a simple brief.

It is a event organised by World Vision in Malaysia. The 30-Hour Famine is a global movement against hunger and poverty. Participants go without food for 30 hours and get a glimpse of the dire conditions that children and families in need endure everyday.

They also raise funds, transforming their hunger into hope for children and families in need. The Famine aims to inspire and empower ordinary people to care for those in need, both locally and globally.
